Most of us will associate a face mask with the occasional pamper night with your girls. But masks are actually super important and can be incorporated into your daily regime. It is recommended to do a 10-minute mask every morning to hydrate and soothe the skin.
Addressing Skin Concerns.
Face masks can help address a whole array of skin concerns from oily and acne-prone skin to dry or sensitive skin; you just need to find the right mask for your skin type.
4 Easy Steps: How To Apply a Face Mask (Properly!)
Step 1–Cleanse Your Face: The first step in using a face mask is by beginning your facial treatment cleanser to effectively remove impurities and excess oil, leaving skin deeply cleansed and refreshed. Work up a good lather and gently cleanse by massaging the lather into your skin from the bottom of your face to the top, and from the center outwards. Rinse with lukewarm water (not hot!) to keep the pores open.
Step 2–Apply Toner With Cotton Pad: Follow up your cleanser with our second step for using a face mask with clear lotion to exfoliate dead skin cells and impurities. Our favorite method is to apply using a cotton pad and sweep this toner from the center of your face outward. Don’t forget your jaw-line! This effectively prepares your face to receive the full benefits of your face mask.
Step 3–Apply Facemask: Apply the facial mask of your choice, following instructions for the mask you’re using. This stretchable, moisturizing face mask is soaked in brightening ingredients that instantly sink into your skin. Once you’ve removed the sheet mask from your face, we recommend massaging the excess liquid into your skin to get the full benefit of the mask.
Step 4–Moisturize After The Mask: Don’t skip our important last step in using your face mask! Even though your skin feels deeply moisturized after your hydrating face mask, you can help the benefits last even longer by locking in the hydration with a rich face cream, especially right before bed. Follow your mask treatment with the Moisturizer of your choice. Take a pearl-sized amount and dot it evenly on your face. Starting from the center outward, spread the cream gently on your entire face.
Don’t Have the Time For a Mask?
Even if you don’t have time every day, do a clay mask once a week and a sheet mask to hydrate as often as possible.
Bonus: Sleeping x Masks
Sleeping masks are SO much more than a skincare trend. When you sleep, your skin repairs and replenishes as your skin’s metabolism improves, enabling your skin cells to reproduce more efficiently. By wearing a hydrating overnight mask, you’ll enhance this regeneration process, as it’ll act as a protective barrier against dirt or bacteria so that when you wake up your skin is at its best!
