How do Dermal Fillers work?
Dermal fillers are used to restore youthfulness and vitality by enhancing volume, facial structure, and hydration from within.
During the natural aging process, bone structure in our faces changes and normal facial fat deposits begin to shrink and descend.
We use industry-leading hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers, which are naturally occurring sugars found in your body. HA fillers help provide structure and support, while also drawing in moisture to the surrounding areas. Dermal fillers help bring back some of the structure and volume that is lost during the aging process.
Fillers can be used for treatment in multiple areas, including temples, cheeks, jawline, chin, and lips. They can help reduce nasolabial folds, perioral lines, and marionette lines. Our goal is always to enhance your inherent beauty and to promote a natural, youthful aesthetic.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get a half vial of Dermal Fillers?
Each syringe is sterile packed and opened for the individual patient. Some clinics offer half syringes but this is off-label usage.
Only using 0.5 cc often does not add sufficient volume/structure. Patients are often concerned that a full syringe will make them look overdone. This is not Dr. Dale’s aesthetic and he places the filler in a way to always promote natural enhancement.
It is common for patients who’ve received half syringes to notice dramatically shorter treatment durations (for example in the lips it is not uncommon for a half syringe to only last 3-4 months)
If only using half a syringe it is often not enough product to distribute evenly to create a natural result (for example only putting product in the upper lip and not the lower) and often creates an unnatural balance. At SkinFX Canada we use Wrinkle-reducing Cosmetic Injections. We use naturally occurring botulinum. When injected, these injections weaken the muscles which reduces the severity of the wrinkles on the face. Due to its ability too quickly, safely, and effectively erase unwanted expression lines, Wrinkle-reducing Cosmetic Injections are the most popular wrinkle treatments in North America.
Wrinkle-reducing Cosmetic Injections block signals from the nerves to the muscles which weakens the muscle strength. The injected muscle can’t contract as much and in turn your wrinkles relax, soften and fade-away. Cosmetic Injections are most often used on forehead lines, crow’s feet (lines around the eye), and frown lines. We can also inject around the lip area. Wrinkles caused by sun damage and gravity will not respond to Wrinkle-reducing Cosmetic Injections.
Getting Wrinkle-reducing Cosmetic Injections only takes a few minutes and doesn’t require any anesthesia. We inject with a fine needle into specific muscles with only minor discomfort. Some people say they don’t even feel the needle.
It generally takes three to seven days to see full effect, and it is best to avoid alcohol starting at least one week before the procedure. You should also stop taking aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications two weeks before treatment to reduce bruising.
The effects of Wrinkle-reducing Cosmetic Injections will last four to six months. As muscle strength gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear and need to be treated again. After receiving the treatment multiple times, the lines and wrinkles often appear less severe with time because the muscles are being trained to relax.
Temporary bruising is the most common side effect of Wrinkle-reducing Cosmetic Injections.
A small percentage of patients may develop temporary eyelid drooping. This usually ends within three weeks. Drooping usually happens when the injection moves around, so it’s best not to rub the treated area for twelve (12) hours after injection or lie down for three (3) hours.
People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a neurological disease should not use cosmetic injectables. Since cosmetic injections don’t work for all wrinkles, you should consult with a doctor first. At SkinFX we offer Free Consultations!
