Common Questions
Frequently asked questions about RF Microneedling.
Collagen induction therapy, also known as microneedling, is a cosmetic procedure that involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with tiny, sterile needles. Microneedling is a fractional rejuvenation and resurfacing treatment that boosts collagen, reducing wrinkles, slowing the effects of ageing, and restoring your skin to a more youthful appearance.
Fractora RF is safe for everyone, and though it’s most commonly used on the face and neck, Fractora RF can treat any area of the body. It is also safe for all skin tones because it targets the deeper layers of the skin—unlike lasers, which target the superficial (topmost) layers of your skin. At SkinFX Canada, we can customize the needle size and amount of radio frequency energy delivered, to best target your skin concerns. Book a consultation with us today so we can help you attain your skin goals, effectively, and with only a few treatments.
We do recommend, for a week before your treatment, stay out of the sun, discontinue use of topical retinoids, and keep your skin well-hydrated by moisturizing in the morning and evening. You should also avoid anticoagulants, like alcohol, aspirin, and ibuprofen, for at least a week beforehand to reduce the risk of bleeding and bruising. Fractora RF treatment is easy and safe, but you can follow these procedures above to ensure the best possible treatment.
After your treatment, your provider will send you home with detailed aftercare instructions. You shouldn’t experience too much discomfort, but you will have some mild reddening of the skin and some possible slight swelling could occur. This will disappear in a couple of days. You might also have some light track marks, scabbing, peeling, or even oozing for up to 48 hours. Patients should moisturize the treatment area and avoid direct sun exposure. It is also recommended that patients use a good, broad-spectrum sunscreen every day. Your fresh new skin will be more sensitive, and making a regular habit of wearing sunscreen will help protect against future skin damage.
Fractora RF is generally an extremely safe device, however, a few minor downsides include:
- It is typically a bit painful—Numbing cream is required
- Redness and swelling of the treated area for up to 48 hours after treatment.
